Storing and Thawing

Dungeness crab arrives in the form of frozen legs and claws. Frozen Dungeness crab can be kept in a freezer for several months due to it's protective glaze. To thaw Dungeness crab, place it in the refrigerator a day prior to cooking it. Left-over Dungeness crab should be kept under refrigeration and used within a couple of days.

Serving Sizes

Two pounds of Dungeness crab will serve 2 to 3 people easily if you're serving with additional entrees. If you're having a crab feast or are serving a group of crab lovers, 5 pounds would be good for 3 people. Usually around 1 1/2 per person is a good starting point.
