Rina's Fish 'Kalia'
Yield: 4 servings
1 to 1.5 lbs fresh firm White Fish
1 to 2 medium Onions, chopped
1 Tbsp fresh Ginger, grated
1 Tbsp fresh Garlic, grated
1 to 2 tsp Cumin, Turmeric, Chili Powder
1 to 2 boiled Potatoes, cut into wedges (optional)
Rice, to serve
Fry fish in olive oil. Be quite generous with the oil. If desired you can also grill the fish but that's not the Indian way! Remove fish and place on paper towel to drain. Fry chopped onions in the same oil until golden brown. Add grated fresh ginger, garlic. In a bowl stir cumin, turmeric, chilli in a small amount of water. Stir paste into onions and add as much water into onion mix depending on how much 'sauce' you require. Add fish, potato (if using) and simmer for a little while. Serve with rice.
