Thawing:
Halibut steaks can be thawed under refrigeration about 12 hours before preparation. The vacuum-sealed packages can also be ran under cold water to speed this up considerably.

Serving Sizes:
An average serving size of halibut steaks would be one half pound. This would apply to both a fillet entree or other cooking methods such as battered halibut.
