Fresh Alaska Cod Fillet

Fresh Alaska cod is renowned for its succulent, flaky texture, distinctive large meat flakes, and its pleasing mild flavor. It is extremely popular, worldwide and is commonly used for making fish 'n chips.

Alaska Cod's firm, but “flake-apart” texture helps it adapt well to most cooking
methods. It can be baked, poached, steamed, sautéed, or deep-fried. Alaska Cod is also perfectly complemented by a vast array of sauces, herbs, spices and coatings.  When cooked, the pronounced gaps in the flakes of meat carry sauces extremely well!

Alaska Cod is a perfect choice for a healthy diet because it is an excellent source of lean, high-quality protein and essential nutrients.

You can feel good about choosing Alaska cod, because it is sustainable, and comes from an extremely well-managed fishery.  Alaska cod (a.k.a. “Pacific cod” or “P-cod”) is a great alternative to Atlantic Cod.

Alaska cod, also called “Pacific cod”, “P-Cod”, or “grey-cod”, is common throughout the Bering Sea.  In Alaska, cod was the largest commercial groundfish fishery until the 1920s, when the fishery peaked.  It used to be that the majority of the catch was salted, and found its way to Scandinavian markets.  Today, modern trawlers play the dominant role for harvesting Alaska cod, although small “pot fisheries” also exist.  Because of proper management, Alaska cod is naturally abundant and sustainable- which ensures that there will be plenty of this fish for future generations.
