Serving Sizes

2 to 3 pounds of fresh golden king crab will serve 2 people easily. If you're having a crab feast or are serving a group of crab lovers, we recommend 1 to 1 1/2 pounds per person.

Storing & Refrigeration

We will ship your fresh golden king crab via FedEx Overnight service, directly from Alaska. It will arrive chilled in an insulated seafood box. Fresh king crab should be refrigerated immediately and served within 2 days of arrival. Left-over king crab (which is rare) should be used within a couple days of your meal.

Size and Packaging

Our fresh golden king crab will ship to as individual legs and claws. Our golden king crab legs average 1/3 to 1/2 pound each. We do not ship broken pieces, tips, and "knuckles", just whole legs and claws.

Preparing Fresh King Crab

Fresh king crab is such a delicacy by itself that we recommend just steaming and serving with butter. It seems that most of our customers would agree. If you want to cook king crab in a recipe, we suggest using some of our premium quality fresh-frozen king crab.

The Bering Sea and the stormy waters surrounding the Aleutian Islands are home to Alaska's main golden king crab fishery. A smaller fishery takes place in the waters off Southeast Alaska. Golden king crab live at much greater depths than Alaska's other king crab. Golden king crab are also known as "brown" king crab and are smaller than red or blue king crab. They are caught using baited crab pots which are lowered to the ocean bottom.
