Crab Feed Tips

How many pounds of crab will I need?

We recommend 1 to 2 pounds per person. If you're serving your crab with many other entrees, about 1 pound each will suffice. If you're serving primarily crab, then 2 pounds each would be good.

How does the crab come packaged?

Our crab comes packaged in insulated shipping boxes that are leak-proof. They are shipped overnight via FedEx and contain large blocks of dry ice to keep the crab cold. We include extra dry ice with large shipments like these so you can store your crab within the insulated boxes up to 24 hours after arrival. All shipments are insured to protect against shipping errors.

What is the best way to cook the crab?

When crab is caught it is cooked and frozen to capture its quality. All you have to do is reheat our crab before serving. There are several ways this can be done including steaming, boiling, baking, and grilling. If your steaming or boiling pots are too small for long crab legs to fit in, you can snap the legs in half at their joints easily. If you're going to put them in the oven to reheat them, we recommend that you put a small amount of water in the pan to ensure that they legs stay moist. If your going to grill them on an outside barbecue, we recommend that you wrap them in foil and add a small amount of water within the foil package to keep them moist. One thing to remember: Do not overcook your crab as they meat will lose it's tenderness and there is the possibility of the meat becoming dry. What should I do with left-over crab?

Many things can be done with left-over crab. You can split it up among your crab feed guests to take home, or you could make salads and dips to take to your friends who could not make it to the crab feed the next day. Considering crab is so well enjoyed, there probably won't be all that much left-over. Just take special consideration when placing your order so you receive the right amount.
